Additional surge protection for switching voltage surges
Designed to protect most consumer electrical installations from switching voltage surges or indirect lightning strikes. At least T2 devices are recommended and already mandatory in many European countries.
The need for protection against voltage surges
The purpose of installing surge protection devices is to limit voltage according to insulation ratings to prevent sparking, which could cause a fire. Surge protection devices must be installed to reduce the impact of voltage surges. This applies to the electrical systems of all buildings, from residential homes to hospitals, communications infrastructure, and other public buildings, as well as commercial/industrial facilities such as hotels, banks, stores, and factories.
Prevent the spread of power surges
Type-2 SPDs are installed in each electrical panel to prevent the propagation of voltage surges within the electrical installation. Eaton's SPCT2 is used to protect against transient voltage surges caused by switching operations and indirect lightning strikes.
