The operating principle detects the established electrostatic field caused by alternating voltage through the insulation without the need for contact with the bare conductor. When voltage is present, the tip indicator lights red and an audible signal sounds (unless disabled). Nominal ranges: 90 V to 1000 V AC or 200 V to 1000 V AC (depending on model) from 45 Hz to 405 Hz; a control circuit model with a range of 20 V to 90 V is also available.
