EDSX, EDS and EFS Pushbuttons, Pilot Lights and Selector Switches for Hazardous Areas

The new EDSX series is available with NEMA 4X protection for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations.

The Crouse-Hinds EDSX, EDS, and EFS series of hazardous area pushbutton control stations, pilot lights, and selector switches are used in conjunction with magnetic starters or contactors for remote motor control. Pilot lights provide visual indication that the desired function is in progress.

EDSX, EDS, and EFS control stations are factory sealed to prevent arcing within the enclosed unit and igniting hazardous atmospheres outside the enclosure. Factory sealing eliminates the need for external seals, simplifies installation, and reduces costs.

Typical applications for the EDSX, EDS, and EFS control stations include industrial environments where the atmosphere may contain hazardous gases and/or dust. A wide range of models is available, providing maximum application flexibility.

EDSX models are NEMA 4X rated for use in Class I, Division 2 locations.
EDS - Intended for use in Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D locations.
EFS - Rated for use in Class I, Division 1, Group B locations

Design Features

Factory sealing eliminates the need for external sealing fittings required for Class I, Division 1 and 2 environments, reducing installation costs and associated hassles.
Large mounting screws for securing covers to the body; cover screws are captive on EDSX models
Mounting eyes and hubs with tapered threads and integrated bushings
The front button (marked "STOP" and "OFF") and the selector switch covers are locked.
A 1/4" deadbolt padlock hole is provided when used with front lever and side type covers.
Front-lever and side-mounted control housings use threaded shafts and bushings to provide hazard protection.
Dead-end (EDSX, EDS, or EFS) or feed-through (EDSCX, EDSC, or EFSC) hubs - sizes 1/2" to 1"
Tight tolerances on wide mating flanges and journal shafts and bearings for front button operation ensure fire-tight housing connections.
When the "STOP" indication is displayed, the button automatically turns red; when the "START" indication is displayed, the button automatically turns green; otherwise, the black buttons are standard.
Contact Block: 10A @ 600VAC, 5A @ 125VDC
