Types of portable lighting
Battery-powered lanterns are useful portable lighting devices. They resemble regular flashlights but provide a broader spectrum of light. These devices typically feature LEDs, which produce a bright white light. These LEDs consume little energy, don't overheat, and are exceptionally long-lasting. Rechargeable lanterns allow you to vary the intensity of the light by activating a specific number of LEDs.
Battery-powered flashlights are becoming increasingly uncommon due to their instability. Although batteries last a long time, they are expensive to replace frequently. Counterfeit flashlights have become increasingly common, and flashlights can fail at any time. Battery disposal is also harmful to the environment. The advantage of these devices is that they can remain in sleep mode for extended periods and still function properly when turned on. Devices with built-in batteries consume energy more slowly, but if not used for a long time, they quickly discharge. Recharging them is not always possible.
Solar-powered lights are designed for outdoor use. These lanterns are equipped with a miniature solar panel that converts solar energy into electricity, which is stored in the device's internal battery during daylight hours. When darkness falls, the device automatically turns on thanks to a light sensor. Thus, the energy collected during the day is expended at night and recharged for the following day.
USB-powered lights can be powered by a laptop or computer, or by a phone or tablet charger. These lights are relatively weak in power, producing a dim light barely sufficient to illuminate the workspace. In industry, such lighting fixtures can be used to illuminate control panels of machines and equipment.
