Eaton relies on electronic control units with PKE circuit breakers for electric motor protection. PKE circuit breakers for electric motor protection with electronic overload protection and a wide setting range offer an attractive alternative to bimetallic solutions for currents up to 65 A and complement the PKZ device family.

Features: Wide adjustment ranges, low heat losses, tripping classes above CLASS 10, and precise and stable tripping curves.

Accessories for circuit breakers PKZM0 are suitable for circuit breaker PKE.

The SmartWire-DT interface allows the integration of PKE into an automation system.

The PKZM01 circuit breaker for protecting electric motors with currents up to 25A is ideal for small machines and other applications where push-button control is preferred.

Enclosures with IP40, IP55, and IP65 protection ratings, available as surface-mounted or flush-mounted enclosures, provide protection against direct contact and ingress of solid foreign objects and water. Whether equipped with protective membranes, locking devices, or a dedicated emergency stop button, circuit breakers ensure reliable shutdown.

Design and logistics are simplified by the use of accessories such as voltage releases, auxiliary contacts with trip indication, and auxiliary contacts from the PKZM0 range. The short-circuit breaking capacity is 50 kA.

The EMS2 electronic motor starter from Eaton's Moeller series combines all the features of a conventional motor starter in a single, highly compact unit. Measuring just 22.5 mm wide, it can be used in any application that requires motors up to 3 kW. The EMS2 electronic motor starter can perform direct and reversing starts, while offering wide-range overload protection and an emergency stop function (Sil3). The SmartWire-DT interface replaces conventional control wiring and provides additional information.

Compared to conventional motor starters, the EMS2 significantly simplifies and accelerates the implementation of safe-stop applications in accordance with SIL 3 and PLe. Its multifunctional design simplifies the configuration of primary/control circuits, thereby reducing the number of hardware components by 70%.

The engine starter feeder system is simple, flexible and safe.
With the optional EMS-X accessory, the EMS2 electronic motor starter can be easily integrated into the feeder system without any tools. Since plug-in technology automatically establishes an electrical and mechanical connection to the feeder module, the motor starter is ready for immediate use.

The enhanced intelligence of PKE motor protection circuit breakers expands the basic, purely protective functions, including on/off switching, to provide greater availability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Access to process-related data within the motor starter environment will be indispensable in the future for scheduled maintenance, repairs, and system uptime.

The modular standard components for configuring the motor starter are optimally coordinated with each other and can be easily combined with accessories from the PKZ system, meeting customer requirements for a system with interchangeable components.

Motor starter combinations with PKE enable integration into the automation world via SmartWire-DT. Actual current flow in the PKE can also be detected via the SWire-PKE modular COM chain, along with display functions such as diagnostics, status messages, and overload messages. Data can be transmitted directly to control devices and is accessible throughout the entire system. This data availability improves the efficiency and reliability of drives.

Whether coordination type 1 or coordination type 2, the combinations of PKZM0 motor starters with DIL contactors provide a short-circuit current of up to 50 kA.

Eaton has optimized standard PKZM0 components and a DIL contactor for easy assembly into safe motor starter combinations with combined plug-in connectors. Tool-free MSC motor starter combinations are also available as complete units, significantly reducing installation and wiring costs. Testing costs are reduced, and errors are prevented from the outset. Eaton offers a practical, tool-free plug-in connection for direct-on-line and reverse-on-line starters up to 15 A. Reversing starters offer clear advantages for the assembler. Instead of laboriously tightening 21 screws, a small number of components simply snap together, speeding up installation and reducing errors and resulting in a clearly designed wiring diagram. Complete mounting connectors are available for direct-on-line and reverse-on-line starters from 17 to 32 A.

IEC combination starters offer direct-on-line, reversing, and two-speed operation. These starters feature rotary controls and 22.5mm control and indicator devices. IEC-style components provide a more compact footprint and are available in ratings up to 250 hp (300 A).

Modular Control Systems (MCS) offer several different mounting solutions for IEC load feeders. Pre-assembled Bulletin 103 and Bulletin 107 non-reversing starters are available for these mounting solutions. The 141A mounting system includes pre-configured circuit breaker modules for powering and protecting the busbar system. For applications up to 100A, the 141C CrossBoard System is now available. This is a true plug-and-play system with a touch-safe plastic enclosure. Components simply snap onto the CrossBoard without tools, ensuring automatic connection. Components can be easily removed and reattached to other CrossBoard sections. The CrossBoard system helps keep panels clean, organized, and compact by significantly reducing power wiring.

Three-phase motors are currently the optimal drive for the simple and cost-effective implementation of machine and system concepts. STC starting torque controllers are a cost-effective solution for soft starting low-power single- and three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. These starting torque controllers help reduce the mechanical and electrical stress on the motor circuits and systems by limiting the starting voltage. This avoids overtorque and overcurrent conditions that occur when short-circuiting circuits across the line, such as when the motor's main control contactor closes.
