HMI operator panels

HMIs, or human-machine interfaces, get their name from the English word "human-machine interface." They feature a wide range of hardware and software features. The choice of SCADA HMI operator panel is determined by each specific automation project and its functional requirements.

HMI manufacturers fully meet customer expectations by producing standard sets of intuitive interfaces built into control panels. Today, no industrial automation system is complete without touchscreen HMIs. They assist in the automation of machinery, expanding remote control capabilities. Each HMI modification is carefully evaluated to ensure the optimal choice for the technological process requirements.

To choose the right operator panel, you need to start by understanding the process requirements and analyzing the required parameters and functions. Only then can you begin analyzing the market and reviewing HMI features that meet your needs.

When choosing an HMI, it's important to consider the environmental conditions in which the device will be used. For equipment used in high-humidity or high-temperature environments, it's important to select models with enclosures that provide the appropriate IP rating.

When HMI operator panels are planned for use in environments with high dust levels, chemicals, and aggressive environments, panels with an additional level of protection are selected. These are models in which the circuit boards are treated with a protective varnish or compound.

It's important to note that control panels are not designed for outdoor installation. Even the brightest screen will lose its brightness if exposed to direct sunlight. Furthermore, HMIs are not designed to operate in high or low temperatures, and sunlight can cause equipment to overheat. All these factors mean that human-machine interfaces should only be used in designated areas.

HMI display size and interface features

Choosing a display size isn't a waste of time. From an economic perspective, this issue is extremely relevant, as the larger the screen, the higher its cost.

Considering operator preferences, most will choose screens with the largest possible size. These devices make it easier to perform touch-based process control, monitor data, or observe changes remotely. Programmers can also choose larger displays, making it easier for them to create charts and optimize processes. It's important to remember that large screens take up a lot of space, which is limited by cabinet doors.

The human-machine interface (HMI) is mounted at an average height from the floor, which is 165 cm. This is suitable for an operator of any height.

When choosing multi-color interfaces, you need to pay attention to the screen resolution in pixels to achieve high-quality graph detail.

To save money, you can choose screens with a connected keyboard and mouse, but this is not very convenient; most users choose models with a touch interface.
