The prestigious annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of Internet of Things companies and products
Milwaukee, January 13, 2022 – Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world's largest industrial automation and digital transformation company, today announced that its FactoryTalk Edge Gateway solution has been selected as the winner of Industrial IoT Solution of the Year in the 6th annual IoT Breakthrough Awards program presented by IoT Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the best companies, technologies, and products in today's global Internet of Things (IoT) market.
Rockwell Automation is a multiple IoT Breakthrough Award winner, being named Industrial IoT Innovator of the Year in 2020 and Industrial IoT Company of the Year in 2021.
With FactoryTalk Edge Gateway, manufacturers can easily access, understand, and use the data they need to make informed decisions. The solution simplifies and automates the collection, contextualization, and organization of industrial equipment data related to machines, devices, and automation assets, ensuring high data integrity from the start. It also provides the necessary foundation for enterprise-wide IT/OT convergence, leading to informed decision-making.
FactoryTalk Edge Gateway software unifies data from industrial sources and control or automation systems. It can integrate with a variety of cloud, industrial IoT, and big data applications. It also uses OPC-DA, the automation industry interoperability standard, to access KEPServer Enterprise data for third-party connectivity. This maximizes operational information and provides a 360-degree view of the business, simplifying and automating data entry into a single integration solution for IT applications.
"Manufacturing processes and machines generate vast amounts of data that, when used in the right place, in the right context, and at the right time, can unlock new sources of potential value from analytics, machine learning, worker experience, digital twins, and more," said Brian Shepard , vice president of software and management at Rockwell Automation. "FactoryTalk Edge Gateway software simplifies the collection, contextualization, and organization of OT data to create a highly integrated digital foundation for decision making. This foundation and the ability to unlock new insights are what can help manufacturers achieve their productivity goals."
The mission of the IoT Breakthrough Awards program is to recognize innovators and leaders from around the world in various IoT categories, including industrial and enterprise IoT, smart city technologies, connected home and home automation, connected car, and many others. This year, the program received over 3,850 nominations from companies worldwide.
"Industrial enterprises struggle to combine operational data from disparate sources, preventing them from unlocking potentially valuable insights at the enterprise level," said James Johnson , managing director of IoT Breakthrough. "FactoryTalk Edge Gateway not only enriches OT data with critical context where it matters most—at the edge—but also delivers it in a flexible, common information model to IT applications so industrial enterprises can extract critical insights for competitive advantage. This makes it our choice for Industrial IoT Solution of the Year. Congratulations to Rockwell Automation for the third year in a row."
Additionally, FactoryTalk Edge Gateway automatically discovers high-speed, contextualized OT data from controllers and packages it into a logical, common information model that controls engineers can customize. This common information model accelerates configuration for similar assembly lines and can be extended with third-party data. It can also be mapped to on-premises or cloud applications and easily used to accelerate IT/OT convergence.
