Crouse-Hinds eXlink Series connectors with pre-assembled splitters/terminal boxes allow quick and safe hot-swapping without requiring additional wiring in Zones 1 and 21.

Control units can be connected to a pre-wired eXlink junction box and disconnected using eXlink plugs, saving time and money during maintenance and repair without the need for an additional switch. All connectors can be inserted or disconnected during operation.

If terminal boxes are used for bus cable routing, they can also be inserted during operation—no system reboot or shutdown required, greatly simplifying diagnostics or reconfiguration. There's also no need to waste time on isolating devices or shutting down the machine mid-process.

Crouse-Hinds eXlink series connectors are used for plug-and-play connections in industrial LAN/Ethernet and USB networks for hot-swapping (plugging and unplugging) equipment in Zones 1 and 2.

With eXlink, the traditional electrical isolation of intrinsically safe interfaces is no longer required. Ex-de connector technology enables the full power of Industrial Ethernet to be utilized without barriers, increasing the efficiency of the bus architecture and reducing susceptibility to failure.

• The input and output sockets are designed with Ex-de protection class and feature CEAG-tested contacts in the form of a sealed, perforated and specially treated copper-beryllium tape, which ensures a permanent, perfect electrical connection with a large number of contact points.
• The Ex-d space around each plug pin provides a secure Ex-d chamber for explosion protection when connecting and disconnecting connectors in zones 1, 2, 21 and 22
• All components are equipped with ground cables, a cable lug and a pre-wired RJ or USB plug.

Crouse-Hinds eXlink series plugs, inlets, receptacles and couplers are designed to allow hot-swapping (connecting and disconnecting) of equipment in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous locations without disconnecting terminals or circuits, and without a hot work permit.

Available in polyamide, nickel-plated brass and stainless steel, eXlink hot-swappable connectors make electrical equipment assembly, maintenance and repair simple, safe and cost-effective.

Crouse-Hinds Series portable power centers and carts safely distribute temporary power in hazardous and harsh industrial zones 1, 2, 21, and 22.

Cable reels and assemblies may be used to supply electrical power to portable electrical equipment in Zones 1 and 2.

Crouse-Hinds series service and maintenance receptacles and distribution panels provide safe and reliable operation during plant shutdowns in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22.

A lockable and padlockable switch on the sockets allows non-hazardous equipment such as drills, welding transformers and hand grinders to be used in explosion-proof areas, so maintenance and repair work can be carried out safely.
